One-Punch Man Manga on Temporary Hiatus Ahead of Summer Return

Fans of One-Punch Man will need to exercise a bit of patience, as the manga will be taking a scheduled two-month break. Artist Yūsuke Murata announced that the popular series, created alongside original author ONE, is going on hiatus due to unspecified circumstances. The manga is expected to return on July 17 via Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump, the platform that has hosted the title since its 2012 launch.

This isn’t the first pause for One-Punch Man this year; the series also stepped away briefly in June 2024. While delays can be frustrating for readers, they are not uncommon in the manga world—especially with high-profile artists like Murata, whose detailed artwork is often praised for its intensity and polish.

One-Punch Man began as a self-published webcomic by ONE before being reimagined with Murata’s artwork. Since then, it has become a global hit, with over 30 volumes released and a strong digital and print presence courtesy of Viz Media.

The franchise has expanded beyond manga with a successful anime adaptation. The first season aired in 2015, followed by a second season in 2019, and fans can look forward to a third season coming this October. The anime has reached viewers worldwide through platforms such as Hulu, Adult Swim’s Toonami, and Crunchyroll, with Viz Media handling distribution in major regions.

In addition to the manga and anime, a Hollywood live-action adaptation is also in development. Sony Pictures has tapped Fast & Furious director Justin Lin to helm the project, while Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty) and Heather Anne Campbell are currently rewriting the screenplay.

Though fans will miss the manga over the next few weeks, there's plenty to look forward to this year, from the highly anticipated anime return to potential updates on the live-action film. With the July 17 comeback set, readers won’t have to wait too long to dive back into Saitama’s world of overpowered punches and comedic chaos.
