Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe theme park is taking interactivity to the next level with the introduction of Power-Up Bands in Super Nintendo World. Modeled somewhat after the wand system in the Wizarding World and reminiscent of Disney’s MagicBands, the Power-Up Bands allow guests to collect digital coins, unlock mini-games, and track progress throughout Super Nintendo World. Available for $42, these wristbands feature character-specific designs like Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Toad, and can be purchased near the Donkey Kong Country entrance or other retail spots throughout Epic Universe.

Using the Universal Orlando app, guests can sync their Power-Up Band via a QR code and immediately begin racking up scores across a variety of games, including Koopa Troopa POWer Punch and Piranha Plant Nap Mishap. These hands-on experiences emphasize timing and coordination and reward players with digital keys, coins, and stamps that contribute toward unlocking larger encounters, like the Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown—an interactive finale for those who gather enough keys.
