Fantasy Life i Set to Join Switch 2’s Launch Lineup with a Fresh Upgrade

When the Nintendo Switch 2 officially launches on June 5, it will be accompanied by yet another addition to its lineup—Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. The life simulation RPG from Level-5 has already made a splash on the original Switch, and now it’s getting a new edition tailored for the next-gen console. Players who already own the game on the first Switch can upgrade to the enhanced version for a small fee.

Fantasy Life i builds on the charm of its Nintendo 3DS predecessor, combining traditional RPG mechanics with life-sim elements. Players take on roles ranging from lumberjack to gourmet chef, carving out their own paths in a vibrant fantasy world. After releasing on May 21, the title saw strong interest, peaking at over 65,000 players on Steam. Its surprise success has quickly positioned it as a strong candidate for cross-generation appeal.

The Switch 2 Edition promises notable enhancements over the standard release. Gamers can expect quicker loading screens, sharper visuals, and smoother overall performance. However, those technical perks will only be available when the game is run on Switch 2 hardware. Original Switch users will continue using the standard version without those upgrades.

In terms of pricing, the structure is a bit unconventional. A fresh purchase of Fantasy Life i for Switch 2 will cost around $62.58. Existing owners of the game can access the upgraded version with a $2.59 fee. However, players hoping for a standalone Digital Deluxe Switch 2 release are out of luck—Level-5 has clarified that no such edition will be offered separately.

For fans of whimsical RPGs with a laid-back pace, Fantasy Life i’s transition to the Switch 2 platform adds another layer of anticipation to an already exciting launch day.
